Product Packaging Workshop

As part of this workshop, we each brought in 5 examples of product packaging design
these were my product examples:

we then arranged all of our products together according to what we thought was high quality, low quality and somewhere in the middle.

This then led to a discussion of what do we judge 'quality' on when it comes to product packaging?

what makes something high quality?
nice feeling stock
sustainability
looks expensive
durability
net complexity

what makes something low quality?
over-crowding
garish colours (is this subjective?)
mass-produced (looking)
poor quality images
attempting to mimic
packaging that isn't needed

...and in between?
disposability
good durability but design doesn't match
not amazing design or stock- mundane
familiarity
